Your investment in the MCO can take many forms in diverse areas.

Year-to-year activities: concerts, education in Manitoba’s north, and more

By donating to the MCO’s Operating Fund, you support the season concerts you’ve come to cherish and programming you may not yet know about. You help us keep Manitoba’s musicians and world-class luminaries on our stage. You also help our musicians enrich the lives of the underserved in hospitals, schools, Manitoba’s north, and beyond through our Education and Outreach program.

Donations can be made online here through our Canada Helps page, with your subscription, or by mailing a cheque to the MCO. We also accept the donation of stocks. To discuss donations, or to donate over the phone with a credit card, you can call 204-783-7377, ext. 102, or email the MCO at info@themco.ca. During the pandemic our staff is working mostly from home, and calls and emails will be returned as soon as possible.

Consider acknowledging special events in the lives of your friends and family by donating to the MCO. We will send a card on your behalf and honour the occasion with a special listing in our season program.

Endowment: supporting the MCO’s long-term health

In 2005, the MCO established the Endowment Fund to ensure its financial stability while achieving its strategic vision. In the last few years, our fund has allowed the MCO to keep ticket prices affordable, present concerts in remote Manitoban communities, release three new recordings, and tour to Eastern and Western Canada. These new performance opportunities raise the MCO’s profile while generating more work for our wonderful Canadian musicians.

You can play a part in securing the MCO’s future. Your endowment contribution will grow right away, thanks to matching grants. The Winnipeg Foundation will contribute one dollar for every nine dollars donated to the Endowment Fund. The federal Endowment Incentives program offers more matching funds. Donations can be made by calling 204-783-7377 ext. 102 and leaving a message, or by sending a cheque with a note explaining that the donation is being made to the endowment.

Planned Giving

Planned giving and bequests are vital ways to support the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra. They help to ensure a thriving future for the MCO and socially conscious music outreach on the prairies. To start a conversation about gift-giving, please call our Acting Director of Development at 204.783.7377 X 104.

The Manitoba Chamber Orchestra is “Canada’s tiny, perfect chamber orchestra” (Toronto Star). Since its founding in 1972, it has established a reputation for being one of Canada’s top chamber orchestras and a national leader in cultural and digital outreach. It has toured widely, collaborates regularly with the world’s leading soloists in its annual Westminster concert series, and delivers free concerts for underserved populations across the province.

Individuals and businesses often find the most value in supporting the MCO through direct sponsorship of our events and initiatives. We tailor sponsorship packages that best suit the needs of our sponsors, and benefits may include: 1 complimentary tickets; 2 full or partial tax receipt; and 3 sponsor recognition on the MCO’s website, and social media pages, print materials, projections at concerts, online content, media releases, concert programs, season brochures, and more.

The MCO is encouraging sponsors in the following areas:

  • Season concerts, which tend to occur at Westminster Church.
  • Education and outreach, such as our free satellite concerts in libraries, hospitals, and across Manitoba’s north; and complimentary tickets for newcomers, students, those living with mental health challenges.
  • Special events, such as our annual Heartstrings Gala.
  • Touring and recording, such as our near-annual tours of Western and Eastern Canada which typically result in a new album recording released through MCORecords.
